150 contractors. Three weeks to shutdown. Who is actually ready?

Turnarounds and shutdowns are the highest-risk periods in an industrial operation. Hundreds of contractors, tight time windows, and everyone needing to be inducted simultaneously. Traditionally this takes too long, too much goes wrong, and there's little proof afterwards of what was done. It doesn't have to be this way.

  • All contractors with completed site induction before day one
  • Full audit trail per contractor, exportable
  • Up to 40% shorter induction lead time
01 Why

A shutdown doesn't cost you money because of poor engineering. It costs you money because of poor preparation.

Every day of delay during a turnaround costs industrial companies an average of €250,000 to €1,000,000, depending on the installation. And the most common cause of delay isn't technical failure. It's a contractor who doesn't know where to go, what to do, or what safety rules apply at your site.

The classic solution is a physical induction day: all contractors in one location, the same presentation, the same signature on a sheet of A4. That works poorly. Contractors arrive on different days, the content is generic, and in the event of an incident there's little proof that anyone actually understood anything.

We build digital contractor inductions that contractors can complete before they set foot on site, on their own device, in their own language, with proof of completion you can access when it matters.

What we see at turnaround clients

  • Contractors arrive without the required site-specific knowledge
  • Contractor induction gets compressed on day one, content is lost
  • No verifiable proof that a contractor understood the induction
  • Language barriers cause misunderstandings about safety procedures
  • After incidents, there's no individual audit trail available
02 In practice

At our last turnaround we had 180 contractors from eight different companies. Normally that was a logistical nightmare. Now everyone had completed their contractor induction before the first day, including the proof.

03 Our approach

The STARK 4D method

How we turn every challenge into a working solution, in four steps.

01 Discover

We start with your problem, not our solution.

What's really going on? What does success look like? We map what exists, what's missing, and what your people actually need. No assumptions, no templates. Just honest scoping and concrete examples of what's possible.

02 Design

We translate your challenge into a clear plan.

Approach, format, timeline, all worked out with your team before we build anything. You know exactly what you're getting. No surprises halfway through.

03 Develop

We build it, and test it with your people.

Whether it's a VR simulation, an interactive module or a full blended programme: your subject matter experts are part of the build. That's how we make it accurate and relevant to the work floor.

04 Deploy

Going live is the start, not the finish.

We support rollout, adoption and embedding. We track whether the training works and adjust where needed. Because training that's not used has no value.

04 What it delivers

What it delivers for your turnaround.

Induction complete before day one.

Contractors complete the site induction before arrival, on their own phone, in their own language. On day one, everyone is already inducted and immediately deployable.

Audit trail per contractor.

Every completion is logged with timestamp, score and name. In the event of an incident or inspection, you have immediate proof of who followed what, per individual, exportable to your systems.

Scalable without extra staff.

Whether you're expecting 30 or 300 contractors, the system scales with you. No extra instructors, no scheduled induction days. Contractors flow in whenever it suits them.
